Client

Yodel

Parcel Delivery businesses operate in a highly competitive market. The opportunity was to provide a more efficient centralised HR shared service by combining HR Administration with Payroll and adding additional HR Services without increasing overall costs.

Solution

Working alongside the newly appointed Head of HR Shared Services, HatherlowHR project managed the introduction of the new HR Shared Services Centre using and adapting Prince2 methodology to suit the clients needs. This involved a review of the existing situation, options analysis, proposal and delivery of the agreed project.

Specific activities included

2. Providing a Retained HR Service for a Digital Media Company

Client

Instinctive Creations

Industry

Digital Media

Situation

Instinctive Creations is a young dynamic company with bags of creativity and really enthusiastic staff. The opportunity was to deliver a HR service that was both compliant as well as engaging for Instinctive staff.

Solution

The first step was to get to know the business, understand what they wanted to achieve, commercially and in respect of all their stakeholders, plus appreciate the culture the Directors wanted to establish and maintain.

Specific activities included

  • Making sure all contracts, policies and procedures were in place, in a format that was complaint yet also engaging.
  • Introducing the Directors to other professionals who could also support the business at an affordable cost, allowing Instinctive to focus on what they do best.
  • Providing innovative training in potentially 'dry' subjects such as data protection policies.
  • Getting involved in supporting Instinctive charity events
  • Providing leadership coaching and mentoring

Customer Feedback

"Gillian has understood our business from day one and utilised her previous experience to help accelerate our growth both as company and in terms of personal development. Gillian is a key asset to our business and I would recommend her to any business not looking for a full time HR person."

3. Providing Confidential Advice and Support for Disciplinary, Capability and Grievance Cases

Client

Chester-based legal firm

Situation

The opportunity is to provide confidential HR support to the solicitor's clients on their behalf.

It is not always appropriate for the solicitor's Employment Team to be involved at this stage of the process, in case the employee in question ultimately decides to take their case to an Employment Tribunal.

Specific activities included

  • initial meeting with the solicitor's client
  • review of documentation
  • investigatory meetings with employees, witnesses etc

  • if required hold the relevant meetings and make a decision on the outcome.

"I am delighted to confirm that Gillian has worked with me in undertaking a number of investigations and she has conducted formal meetings at both first stage (as decision maker for disciplinary and grievance issues) and appeal stage; including working with me on complex matters.  I am happy to confirm that we have received positive feedback with regard to Gillian’s involvement with the matters she has been involved with and I would certainly look forward to working with Gillian again in the future."
